Your information
Privacy Policy
What we collect when you enquire, where it goes, how long we keep it, and how to get it back or have it deleted.
This policy describes what actually happens on this website — the specific questions our enquiry form asks, the named services that handle the answers, and what you can ask us to do about it. Our booking terms are separate and live on our terms and conditions page.
1.Who we are
This website is operated by [TO CONFIRM: full legal entity name], trading as The Barmen, ABN [TO CONFIRM: ABN]. We provide mobile bar hire, bartending and cocktail masterclasses. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean that business.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) as a matter of practice.
2.What this policy covers
This policy covers both of our websites:
- www.thebarmen.net.au — mobile bar hire, bartender and bar staff hire, and cocktail masterclasses.
- x.thebarmen.net.au — The Barmen X, our hens party and topless waiter service, which is for guests aged 18 and over.
The two sites ask slightly different questions, but the answers are handled the same way, by the same people, using the same services. Where something applies to only one of them, we say so.
3.What we collect
We collect what you type into our enquiry forms, and nothing else about you.
On www.thebarmen.net.au, our enquiry form asks for:
- Your name, and an email address — both required, because we cannot answer you otherwise.
- The kind of event, a month, a rough guest number and a region — also required, because they are what a quote is built from.
- Optionally: your phone number, your company, an exact date, how long you need service for, the package you are interested in, the venue or address, whether you need us to bring a bar, your glassware preference, and anything else you want to tell us.
On x.thebarmen.net.au, the booking form asks for your name, email address and phone number, and then when and where the event is, how many guests, which package and add-ons you want, the venue, and any message you would like to include.
Every optional question can be left blank, or answered “not sure”. If you give us a venue address, it is because you chose to; we do not need it to reply to you.
4.What we do not collect
We think the absence of things is worth stating plainly:
- We do not ask for, and never receive, payment card details through this website.
- We do not record your IP address or your browser’s user agent against your enquiry.
- We do not create an account or a profile for you, and there is nothing to log in to.
- We do not buy contact lists, and we do not sell, rent or trade your information to anybody.
- We do not run advertising, remarketing or conversion-tracking tags of any kind. There is no Google Ads tag, no Meta pixel, no Google Analytics and no tag manager on either site.
5.Why we collect it
To answer your enquiry, to work out and send you a quote, and to run the booking if you go ahead. That is the whole purpose. We do not use your enquiry for anything you did not contact us about.
6.The email you get back
When you submit an enquiry, we send an automatic email to the address you gave us. It confirms we have it, and it includes a copy of your own answers so you can see exactly what reached us.
This matters for two reasons. It is the only way you can check your enquiry arrived without having to chase us. And because it repeats what you sent, it will contain whatever you put in the form — including a venue address or a phone number, if you gave one. If you share a mailbox with somebody, that is worth knowing before you submit.
It is sent once, in response to your enquiry. It is not marketing and there is nothing to unsubscribe from.
7.Who else handles it
Your enquiry is handled by three services on our behalf. We name them because “trusted third parties” tells you nothing:
- Vercel hosts this website and runs the code that receives your enquiry.
- Resend sends the enquiry to our team as an email, and sends you the copy described above.
- LINK Marketing, our marketing agency, operates the enquiry records system where your enquiry is stored so that we can find it and act on it. It is held in a database hosted by Supabase. Access is restricted to our team and to the LINK Marketing staff who maintain the system.
These services handle your information to provide those functions to us, and for nothing else. We do not disclose your enquiry to anyone else unless you ask us to, or unless we are required to by law.
8.Information held overseas
Some of those services store or process information outside Australia. Vercel and Resend are both based in the United States, and our enquiry records are held in a Supabase database in [TO CONFIRM: Supabase data region].
Where your information goes overseas, we take steps that are reasonable in the circumstances to see that it is handled to the standard it would have to meet here, and we stay responsible for it. We do not ask you to waive that protection as the price of sending us an enquiry.
9.Cookies
This website does not use cookies. It does not store anything on your device, and there is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
That is unusual enough to be worth spelling out: no tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, no “essential” cookies, and nothing kept in your browser’s local storage.
10.Website analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages people read. It works without cookies and without storing anything on your device.
It reports to us in aggregate: which page was viewed, the country, the type of device, the browser and operating system, and the website that referred the visit. We cannot identify you from it, and we cannot connect it to your enquiry. Vercel processes your request — including your IP address, which any website necessarily receives in order to answer you — to produce those totals, and assigns a short-lived identifier so that one person reading four pages is not counted as four people.
That is the only measurement on either site. We do not use session recording, heatmaps or scroll tracking, and nothing watches where you move your mouse.
11.Automated decisions
Nothing on this website makes an automated decision about you.
Software does check that the form is filled in, turn your answers into an email, and sort arriving enquiries into “detailed” and “quick” so our team knows which to read first. None of that decides anything about you. It does not price your event, approve or decline you, rank you against anybody else, or change what you are offered. A person reads your enquiry and a person writes your quote.
If that ever changes, we will say so here before it does.
12.Fonts and embedded content
On www.thebarmen.net.au our pages load two typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches them, Google receives the request, which includes your IP address, in the same way as any other request for a file on the internet. Google sets no cookie in doing so, and we receive nothing from it. On x.thebarmen.net.au the typeface is served from our own site, so no third party is involved at all.
There is no other third-party content on our pages. We do not embed videos, maps, social feeds, chat widgets or comment systems, so nothing loads in a frame and nothing watches you read. Where we link to Instagram, Facebook or our Google reviews, those are ordinary links: nothing is sent to them unless you click.
13.Marketing
We do not send marketing emails to people who enquire. If that ever changes, we will ask you to opt in first, and every message will carry a working unsubscribe link. Replying to a quote is not consent to a newsletter.
14.How long we keep it
We keep your enquiry for as long as we are in business. We do not delete it on a timer, and that is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight: people come back to us years after they first got in touch — a hens party becomes a wedding, a work function becomes an annual one — and having the original conversation to hand is how we pick up where we left off instead of starting you from scratch.
So your information stays with us until you ask us to remove it. Whenever you ask, we will. There is no window you have to act inside and no reason you need to give us. Where we have carried out work for you, we keep what we need to meet our tax and record-keeping obligations, and no more.
See section 15 for how to ask.
15.Getting a copy, or having it deleted
Email owner@thebarmen.net.au and ask. You can ask us to:
- send you a copy of the information we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong; or
- delete your enquiry.
We will reply within [TO CONFIRM: response period] and will not charge you for asking. We may need to confirm you are who you say you are before we send information out — if we did not, anyone could ask for your details. If we cannot do what you have asked, we will tell you why.
16.Keeping it secure
This website is served only over an encrypted connection, and enquiries are sent to us over that same encrypted connection. Our enquiry records are not publicly readable: the database refuses access by default, and only our own server-side code, holding a key that is never sent to your browser, can write to or read from it.
No system is perfect, and we would rather say that than claim otherwise. If we ever had a data breach that was likely to cause you serious harm, we would tell you and the relevant authorities.
17.Under-18s
Our services involve alcohol and our bookings are made by adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we have no reason to: there is nothing on our sites aimed at children.
The Barmen X is strictly an 18-and-over service. If you believe someone under 18 has sent us an enquiry, email owner@thebarmen.net.au and we will delete it.
18.Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your information, email owner@thebarmen.net.au. Tell us what happened and we will look into it and come back to you.
If you are not satisfied with how we have dealt with it, you may be able to take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, which publishes how to make a complaint at oaic.gov.au.
19.Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date below. If the change is significant and we hold your email address, we will tell you.
